(Cymbopogon citratus)
This is a very popular local herb that is used in a number of our soaps. Almost every Belizean has at some point in their lives used this “herb” for medicinal purposes. Many have very fond memories of their mothers, aunts or grandmothers making a nice warm infusion of this plant in milk to help them "sweat" out their fever. Yes, this plant is also commonly known as fever grass because it was the main use of this “herb”. As a tea it is also used to alleviate the symptoms of coughs and colds.
